MEET THE TEAM

Tony

Owner/Operator

I’m Tony the owner/operator of the Moffat Beach swim school. I’ve had a passion for swimming and coaching most of my life.
I joined lifesaving and pool competitions at the age of 6. I started coaching and teaching at 17 whilst still competing. For the last 20 years I’ve been managing Council facility pools. This has been a rewarding experience, teaching many children to swim. With some I have watched grow from an early age all the way through to high school. Throughout this time, I have been lucky enough to have taught and coached some good swimmers. As a result, I was afforded a spot as a coach, on the Queensland and Australian Junior swim squads.
Moffat Beach is a beautiful part of the World to live and work. Beyond thankful, is how I feel about the staff and patrons that attend this centre. We all work towards the common goal of teaching the children to swim in a comfortable, relaxed and fun environment.
For all new people thinking of coming, please come in and have a look around at the facilities, you’re more than welcome.

Meet Miss Holly
Holly graduated from High School in 2020.
Holly deferred her place from University and spent 2021 training to be a swimming Teacher.
After receiving her qualifications and working at the Biloela Aquatic Centre.
In 2022, moved to the Sunshine Coast to start studying Paramedicine at University.
Apart from a love of swimming, Holly loves an active life and has a passion for dancing.
How amazing now to teach the kids to Swim along side her own original teacher!!!
"Fun Fact, Tony was my swimming teacher as a kid!!!!!"

Chloe

Swim Instructor

Meet Miss Chloe
Chloe has been teaching at Moffat Beach for nearly 3 years now.
When she is not working, she is studying her Social Work and Criminology degree which she has almost finished.

Her favourite thing to do when she is not teaching, or studying is to go surfing at any of our beautiful beaches.
Even if the surf isn't any good, she will go for a swim or snorkel, anything to get in the water!

She grew up participating in swimming lessons and squad training.
Chloes favourite stroke was butterfly!
Chloe cannot wait to meet your kids to " learn to swim with strength and confidence "

Byron

Meet Mr Bryon
My Bryon has been a swimming Teacher with Moffat Beach Swim School for just over a year. He is studying at university to be a secondary school teacher within the interests of English and history. "My passion for teaching started here at the pool and I can’t wait for it to take me further."
" Gidday kids, give him a thumbs up"

Justy

Swim Instructor

Meet Miss Justy
Justy has been with at Moffat beach swim school for the past seven years. Her passion for children to gain confidence and be successful is purely obvious, once you read her profile.

With an abundance of experience:-
Previously 4 years at John Wallace aquatic centre.
Justine has had her own successful swim school business in Sydney.

Justy helps children succeed and gain confidence in the water.
Justys own children have their own milestones, by coach mum, leading their swimming paths.

Justy herself was unbeaten all the way through school in her swimming abilities. Well done Miss Justy!! If your children have natural abilities?? This will not go unnoticed.

When not at the pool you may find Justy riding around town on her scooter. Her favourite pass time. "Beep beep"

Jade Gardiner

Meet Miss Jade

I am in my final year of schooling at Unity College. Next year I am going to Sunshine Coast university and have applied for teaching, criminology, and psychology. Surf life saving is a passion of mine, the team events are by far my favourite and even this year at the Gold Coast myself and two of my team mates won a silver medal at a national level. I am apart of Metropolitan Caloundra and have been for 12 years. A fun fact about myself is I learnt to swim at Moffat beach swim school at the age of 2 years old.

Rachel

Administration Assistant

Meet Miss Rachel
Hello everyone this is Rachel. Her role at MBSS is to assist Tony with administration duties.
Rachel enjoys welcoming all the amazing swimming students and their families to Moffat Beach Swim School.
Rachels "little one" attends swimming lessons at MBSS and is progressing nicely under the supervision of Tony's swimming instructions.
Rachel has lived on the Sunshine Coast for 13 years. She loves gardening and walking her dog along our stunning beaches.
In March 2022 her lifelong goal of shaving her hair to raise funds for the Leukemia Foundation was achieved with the support of Tony and the generous families of MBSS.
Say a big hello to Miss Rachael upon arrival

Ella

Swim Instructor

Meet Miss Ella
As a swimmer and 2nd year paramedic student it was natural for Ella to combine her talents for the betterment of young swimmers through teaching:- I have been teaching swimming for over 1 year and have just joined the Moffat Beach team.
I swim competitively myself and compete at an Olympic and Commonwealth Trial level.
As well as loving swimming, I have a huge passion for teaching and supporting youth in swimming as a life skill and enjoyment.
As an open water swimmer, I compete in races up to 10km and also have multiple National gold medals in these events.
I am super excited to be joining the Moffat beach team and look forward to developing integral relationships with parents and children.
Big warm welcome!

Brooklyn

Swim Instructor

Meet Miss Brooklyn
Brooklyn is one of the morning teachers at the Moffat Beach Swim School.
She really enjoys being a swim coach and working with kids. What she loves the most about the job is seeing the kid’s faces when they learn a new skill and finds it really rewarding to see them progress and become more confident in the water. In addition to being an enthusiastic swim coach, she is also a sports coach for the school she graduated from. Brooklyn is currently studying occupational therapy and hoping to one day work in a hospital setting. Growing up she played many different sports, but basketball was always her predominate sport. She is currently playing for USC Rip City in the QSL/NBL 1 competition, and is also involved in the University Basketball League this year. Outside of work and playing sport she loves going to the beach and being active with her family and friends.

April

Swim Instructor

Meet Miss April

April has been working as a swim teacher at Moffat Beach Swim School since 2020 and has enjoyed watching many children learn and master water skills to become safe and avid swimmers which is especially important living on the coast. Outside of teaching, April is a fourth year Occupational Therapy student and enjoys surfing and travelling.

See you in the pool.

Steven

Swim Instructor

Meet Mr Steven
I have been teaching swimming at the Moffat Beach swim school for 12 years and for a few years was also involved with the school swim programs for all the local schools. I have also coached Kids T-ball (a basic form of baseball). Taught Karate both adults and children and had an English school in Japan teaching both adults and Children conversational English.
My teaching methodology is based upon building a strong basic platform and building skills through progressive drills/routines. As the student demonstrates a strong ability in particular drills they then build to more difficult/specific skills. You can’t get a baby to walk until they have mastered all the different milestones leading up to walking and the same goes for swimming. My goal is to have students leave the Moffat Beach Swim School as confident and competent swimmers so they can spend future years filled with wonderful memories based around water.
I also have a grown up job too. I have worked for over 30 years in TV production doing both production shows and live sport. I have been very lucky being able to travel nationally and internationally working on some of the biggest sporting events/productions and being involved in some pretty amazing things.
See you in the pool
